This page explains what information opendwgfileonline.com (“we”, “us”, “our”) collects when you use this website, why we collect it, and what choices you have. We’ve tried to keep it short and in plain English.

The short version
- Drawings you open in our DWG viewer are read inside your own browser. They are not uploaded to our server, and we never see them.
- We don’t ask you to create an account or sign in.
- We don’t sell your personal information.
- Like every website, our servers record basic technical data, such as your IP address, when you visit.
- If you email us, we use your email only to reply to you.
Files you open in the DWG viewer
Our online viewer processes DWG and DXF files entirely on your device, inside your web browser. When you choose or drag in a file:
- The file is read by code running in your browser
- The file is not sent to our server or stored by us
- When you close or reload the page, the drawing is gone from the viewer
To display text in drawings, the viewer may download standard CAD font files from a public content delivery network (cdn.jsdelivr.net). That request includes normal technical details like your IP address, as any web request does. It does not include your drawing.
You can check this yourself. Load the viewer page, disconnect from the internet, then open a file. The viewer keeps working because your drawing never needs to leave your device.
Information collected automatically
When you visit any page, our hosting provider and caching systems automatically record standard technical information, including:
- Your IP address
- Browser type and version
- Device and operating system type
- Pages you visit and the time of your visit
- The website that referred you, if any
This information is used to keep the website running, secure and fast, to prevent abuse, and to diagnose problems. Server logs are kept for a limited time by our hosting provider and then deleted.
Cookies
We aim to use as few cookies as possible.
- Essential cookies. WordPress may set cookies needed for the site to work properly, such as security and caching cookies. Visitors who don’t log in usually receive few or none.
- Login cookies. Only site administrators who log in to manage the website receive login cookies.
- Analytics. We do not currently use analytics or advertising cookies. If we add analytics or ads in the future, we will update this page first to say which services we use and explain your choices.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The DWG viewer works without cookies.
Information you send us
If you email us at hello@opendwgfileonline.com, we receive your email address, your name if you include it, and whatever you write. We use this only to reply to you and to improve the website. We don’t add you to a mailing list without your permission.
Please don’t email us confidential drawings. If you have a problem with a file, describe it, and we’ll suggest what to try.
How we use information
We use the information described above to:
- Run, maintain and secure the website
- Understand which pages are useful so we can improve them
- Reply to messages you send us
- Comply with legal obligations
We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information.
Third-party services
This website relies on a few third parties to work:
- Hosting and content delivery. Our hosting provider stores the website and serves its pages, and processes server logs as described above.
- Font delivery. CAD fonts for the viewer may load from cdn.jsdelivr.net.
- External links. Our articles link to other websites, such as Autodesk’s. Those sites have their own privacy policies, and we’re not responsible for them.
How long we keep information
- Drawings you open in the viewer: never stored by us
- Server logs: kept for a limited period by our hosting provider
- Emails: kept as long as needed to handle your question, then deleted when no longer needed
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask us to:
- Tell you what personal information we hold about you
- Correct information that’s wrong
- Delete your information
- Stop or limit how we use it
To make a request, email hello@opendwgfileonline.com. We’ll respond within a reasonable time. If you’re in the European Economic Area or the UK, you also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
Children
This website is not aimed at children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we’ll delete it.
Security
We use HTTPS to encrypt traffic between your browser and our website, and we keep our software up to date. No website can promise perfect security, but because the viewer doesn’t upload your drawings, there’s nothing of yours on our server to leak.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we’ll change the “Last updated” date at the top. If changes are significant, we’ll make that clear on this page.
